2. Graduate with a Bachelors Degree

After six years (eight if you count the two I spent in high school earning my AA), I've finally done it!
It took a lot of work, a lot of sleepless nights (sometimes days without sleep), money and tons of support from family and friends. I couldn't have done it without my extensive support system.

Now the question remains. What do you do with a geography degree?

74. FINISH STATS

Probably the greatest accomplishment of my life thus far. Possibly the greatest show of procrastination in the history of mankind.

There were no ends to the activities I took on in order to complete this class: endless Facebook stalking, writing a whole novel, several trips to places like California, Boise, Florida, Ohio, Kentucky, etc., beginning the starts of other novels, cleaning my room, baking, throwing parties, attending parties, etc. etc. etc. The list goes on and on and on.

But with much help from William, I was able to get it done. It was painful and it was terrible and I hated every second of every minute that I spent working on it.

But, as of July 31, I finished it! Yay!

And then I killed my stats book. Double yay!

104. Earn My Associate's Degree

In 6th grade I learned about the Post Secondary Education Option Program that the State of Ohio provides for high school students. You went to the community college closest to you and the state paid for tuition and books while you earned high school and college credit.

I knew by that time that I wanted to go to BYU. I also knew that I didn't know how to pay for BYU. So two years of free college (the program started junior year) was ideal.

Getting into the PSEO program was harder than I expected. I am not really a good test taker, and when I took the admittance test, I missed placement by ONE LOUSY POINT (I was so mad, I kicked a whole in our kitchen wall). They have, of course, since changed the test to something far easier.

I wasn't going to let that get me down, though. So I took a summer class at Edison Community College to prove that I would be fine in college classes during the school year. This class was pretty fun - it was a college writing class. And honestly, there was no way  needed to be in there. Even my teacher wondered why I was there.

Still, I got to write a lot and do really inane tasks, and it allowed me to start working at Edison earlier, too. In the end, I really have to think about the class to even remember that I took it. It seems so long ago.

I was a little scared my first year. The "failing" of the test really shook my confidence, so I took less credits than I would have. Plus, I still had to do Algebra 2 and Latin at the high school. That left me two classes short at the end of senior year that I took that summer. I was lazy and didn't want to go to class, so I ended up getting two Cs, the first in my life, and graduated with my AA in August 2004.

59. Buy a New Camera

When I made this goal, I was carrying around a "brick of crap" for a camera. It was huge and boxy and had to "charge the flash" every time I wanted to take a picture. When it hit dusk, it was completely worthless. The batteries would not stay charged for anything. It was time for an upgrade.

When I went to Florida, I decided that I needed a good camera to come with me. So I choked up $250+ and bought a camera. It's cute, sleek and takes good pictures.

The only time I miss the brick is when I'm trying to do self-timer things, because this camera doesn't have enough bulk to keep it standing on its own.

40. Go to Florida to Visit Jessica

Jessica Potter Walker is one of my best friends that I met in Utah while working at IHOP. She got married pretty early in our friendship, and so it was a fairly easy adjustment and Tyler has always been welcoming to me staying at their apartment and intruding on Jessica's time and talents.

When she moved to Grand Junction, I was really sad, but I was able to drive and visit her on occasion. When she moved to Michigan I was double sad. And triple sad when she was in New Jersey. Basically, for the whole of our friendship, she has lived outside of the state of Utah. I still love her to death.

When she moved to Florida, there was incentive to go see her. Not only would I be seeing one of my best friends, but I would also be able to enjoy time on the beach and see my Uncle Fred and get away from the wonky weather found in Utah. Plus, I hadn't been to Florida since I was 14 or so, and it's cheaper to fly to Florida than New Jersey or Michigan.

I found a ticket really cheap for the middle of April this year. Thinking that I would be done with stats, I bought the ticket as a "reward" for myself. I wasn't finished, but I didn't care, I was going anyway.

It turned out to be a blast. I love how easy it is for Jessica and me to fall into our old routine friendship without the awkwardness that distance sometimes creates. She was so generous and hospitable, and even though she had to work, I had a great time!
